Do-it-yourself installation of a bath on bricks. Bath installation methods, depending on the material, on bricks

From the photo, installing a bathtub on bricks looks attractive. This method suitable for fastening containers made of steel, acrylic, cast iron, which can be done independently. It is advisable to choose a red solid brick that can withstand heavy weight, exposure to water and harmful microflora.

Although each bathtub has standard metal legs, the plumbing fixtures are installed by craftsmen on a brick base. This is necessary to evenly distribute the load, to ensure greater stability. This installation method has the following advantages:

  1. Sustainability. During the installation of structures, high-quality stability is ensured. This indicator especially important for steel and acrylic product which has a light weight. Models made of these materials with poor-quality fastening sway, stagger, slide, which is unsafe.
  2. Protection against wall deformation. solid base, which supports the bottom, does not allow deformation of the walls, so the enamel can last a long time. The walls of thin-walled structures deteriorate from weight, which causes the enamel coating to crack and then peel off. This method eliminates noise during water intake, which is usually observed in metal baths.
  3. Versatility. Brick legs are installed on all bathtubs, regardless of weight, shape, size. In addition, the method will help to raise the container to any height.

Installing a font on bricks on your own will cost more than mounting on standard legs. Costs consist of the price of bricks and cement-sand mixture. The least material is needed to create brick columns, then this method is not much more effective than the classic one.

How to arrange in a room

Do-it-yourself installation of a bathtub on bricks without legs begins with preparatory work. Attention should be paid to leveling the floor, waterproofing. If tile is to be laid, cement mortar is needed for strength. Installation acrylic bath on bricks, as well as steel containers, is carried out according to a single technology.

Due to the weak construction adhesive mixture applied by the ridge method, small voids remain under the tiles. This position should not be allowed so that the weight of the bath does not crack or break the tile.

Before installing the bath on bricks, you need to make sure that the container fits snugly against the wall. Otherwise, water will be poured into the distance between it and the structure, which will cause mold. The ends of the container should touch the walls tightly, so the gaps after installation must be filled with sealant.

The slope of the bath must be done towards the drain to prevent stagnation of water. It is advisable to create brick racks, while the height of the rear should be 19 cm, and the front - 17. If the container is made taking into account the slope for the drain, then lay out the racks different heights not required.

The preparation of the room for installation should be carried out as carefully as possible. Attention should be paid to the evenness of the floor, check the quality of the waterproofing.

In the case when it is planned to lay tiles on the floor, it is recommended to use a cement mortar to fix the tiles, rather than ordinary tile adhesive.

This is due to the fact that in case of uneven application of glue, empty areas can form under the tile.

By installing a bathtub on such a tile, you can find the unpleasant consequences of inattention - cracks, or even completely broken tiles.

If wall cladding involves the use of this product, then in this case the tile is attached to the wall only after the bath is installed.

When planning the location of the font, it must be remembered that it should fit as tightly as possible to the wall.

If this condition is not observed and there is no specific treatment between the bathroom and the wall, fungus and mold will multiply very quickly, and this will cause great inconvenience.

Speaking about the end walls, it should be noted that between them and the bathroom, on the contrary, there should be a small gap, which after installation just needs to be treated with a sealant.

Such a gap must be present in case of overheating or expansion of the bath. In such cases, with a snug fit of the end sides to the wall, it can be deformed.

You need to check the container for a slope. If it is still missing, you need to make racks of different heights.

The slope must be made in the direction of draining the water so that it does not linger in the bowl after water procedures.

Masonry options

Bath tubs are different. This is determined by the specifics of the room, the characteristics of the bath, production needs, the capabilities and imagination of a person. The following types are popular:

  1. Two supports in the form of small walls. Usually they are made with a concavity at the top in the shape of the vessel.
  2. A solid pedestal that serves as a support for the foundation.
  3. Brick walls along the edges of the tank. This view is often used during the installation of a corner acrylic structure.

There are no very big differences in the technology of creating these masonry. The differences are only in the amount of material and the amount of labor. Although there is still debris during the dismantling of the bathroom, cleaning and preparation are considered mandatory procedures.

If it is planned to install a brick base, but placed old bath, disassembly is performed first. Work must be done in special clothing and protective equipment. This job is dirty. Before dismantling, communications are turned off: water taps are shut off. Still need to take out supplies and accessories.

Furniture is removed from the room, plumbing and sanitary ware are dismantled. The room is cleared of everything that will interfere. Often, when dismantling the bath, overhaul, therefore, they remove tiles, tiles, remove paint and other facing materials. Everything is done quickly. These works allow you to carry out high-quality repairs.

Why put on bricks

A bathtub on bricks is a method used as often as installing a bathtub on legs. What are the advantages of brick supports?

  1. Durability. Although the legs remain stable for quite a long time (approximately 10 years), after this period they begin to loosen. As a result, the bowl itself is deformed, which leads to the fact that after taking a bath, water flows down the drain for a very long time. With brick supports, such problems never arise.
  2. Versatility. With the help of brick laying, it is possible to install a bathtub from any material.
  3. Bricks are not subject to corrosion. Legs, on the other hand, will rust over time.
  4. Bricks withstand intense weight loads. An overweight person can take water treatments without fear of the tub tipping over.

Of course, this method also has a drawback - the high installation cost. It consists of the cost of bricks and the mixture used to prepare the mortar. Usually it is a cement-sand mixture.

How to properly install a bathtub on bricks? Any construction begins with markup and measurements.

Training

It is necessary to obtain data on the length and width of the bath. Consider also where you will install it.

The height from the floor of the edge of the bath should not exceed 60 centimeters. Otherwise, it will be quite difficult to get into it. For water to go into sewer drain, it is necessary to make a slight slope.

To do this, a brick for the base racks before draining is made 17 centimeters, and the structure farthest from it must be made 19 centimeters high. For a standard-shaped bath, the distance between the supports should be 50-60 centimeters.

The next step will be the processing of materials. If you want the bathtub not to be dismantled after a while, then treat the wall in the place where it will be installed with a special compound. Those who are doing the installation already in the finished room can omit this part.

Moisture-proof composition must be applied to avoid the appearance of mold and fungus on the wall. Brick under the bath is pasted over with tape Guerlain D. Bath with outer side can also be completely pasted over with this rolled protective material. It helps to get the best adhesion of the brick support under the bath with its surface.

Installation

Easiest to install on brickwork acrylic bath because it is light in weight. If you have a cast iron or steel version of plumbing, then it is best to use combined option installation and screw the legs.

  • Legs are mounted;
  • With the help of bricks (without mortar), their required number is calculated: in height and width between the legs;
  • Once all the calculations are done, you can fix the bricks with mortar.

According to the same algorithm of actions, the installation of a bathtub on foam blocks can be carried out.

Along the edge of the bath, in order to hide communications and masonry, you can mount a wall. In order to make supports without the participation of legs, you need to find something to put under the bath. It is most popular to use a wooden box as a temporary support.

As soon as you make the supports, carefully install the bath on them, and dismantle the temporary scaffolding. Particular care must be taken when handling an acrylic bath, as it is very easy to damage any protruding sharp corner.

The wall along the edge is also suitable for strengthening the bath. In this case, the brick is laid not as legs, but along the perimeter of the plumbing. This method is higher in terms of costs and has another significant drawback - if a pipe breaks or another emergency occurs, you do not have access to communications.

materials

In order for the installation of a bathtub on bricks to be of high quality, it is not necessary to buy a lot of expensive electrical appliances or cheap materials. This will require the presence of:

  • bricks - at least 15 pieces;
  • sand, dry cement, mixing containers;
  • sealant;
  • metal profile, grinder, self-tapping screws;
  • trowel;
  • level;
  • protective rubber pads.

The sealant should be taken tape, which simplifies the work of isolating the seams. Bricks should be taken red or white, which do not have voids inside. Protective pads are needed only for a steel bath, and the number of bricks is increased, since the weight of such a structure is greater. Level needed for horizontal installation containers.

Installing a bath on bricks with your own hands is not complete without the following materials:

  1. The brick itself. It is recommended to use red brick without voids inside. Bricks should be purchased in quantities of at least 15 pieces.
  2. Cement - sand mixture for the preparation of the solution.
  3. Specialized tape sealant.
  4. Metal profiles.
  5. Bulgarian and self-tapping screws (required for fixing the bath).
  6. Building level.
  7. Special protective rubber pads (laid between the bottom of the bath and the brick).
  8. Master OK.

Why is it required?

Installing a bathtub on bricks is not a new solution, this method has been in demand for decades. This is a reliable method in which the structure is securely fixed, stable, will be installed in the right place, and will be used for a long time.

As can be seen from practice, bricks are a more durable option than the "native" legs that are included. After 10-12 years, the supports warp, after which the deformation of the product is observed, due to which the water does not completely drain into the sewer after water procedures.

We measure the dimensions

First of all, you need to check the surface on which the bath will be located. If there are gaps and cracks, they must be cleaned and repaired with a cement mortar.

Undoubtedly, it is better to carry out this procedure immediately than to suffer afterward, fixing the location of the plumbing with the help of boards or any auxiliary materials.

The next step is to measure the tub. Need to measure:

  • font length and width;
  • bathing tank depth;
  • distance from the installation site of the supports to the ends of the bath. If there are difficulties in measuring the distance between the rows of bricks, you need to measure a distance of 25 centimeters from the middle of the bath in both directions. At the points obtained, brickwork should be located;

According to the rules, when measuring the dimensions of the bowl, it must be taken into account that the height of the bath from the floor should reach 55 - 70 centimeters.

Determining the desired height is simple - you need to understand how it will be most convenient to take water procedures directly to homeowners and opt for the resulting indicator.

It must also be remembered that there is no need to form a slope of the font towards the drain hole, since modern baths already equipped with a slope at the factory.

Due to their unreliable design, the legs welded to the bath do not create a stable position. This video shows how to use bricks to fix the bathtub so that it is in the correct position and becomes rigidly fixed.

Due to the instability of the bath, it is impossible to make a border between it and the wall - it is constantly collapsing. To eliminate these problems, you can use the usual red bricks and construction adhesive. The work progress is as follows:

  1. Raise the bath. For ease of installation, you can use a jack and raise it to the desired height. The standard height to the bottom of the bath is 60 cm, that is, you need to be guided by this size. But on different models bathtubs, their depth varies by several centimeters, so before major installation, everything should be carefully died out.
  2. Lay out brick racks. There will be two. From both edges of the bath, you need to step back the same distance and mark the place for installing bricks on the floor. The first of them must be installed with the smaller side close to the wall, before that, lubricating its lower part with tile adhesive. Then to it butt to put the next brick. That is, the racks are made in half a brick. The height turned out to be three bricks lying on top of each other.
  3. Bath installation. Tile adhesive is applied to the surface of the topmost brick. Then the jack is lowered and the tub is fixed on the bricks. The legs of the bathtub also need to be glued to create more reliable supports.
  4. Close up the empty space between the wall and the bathroom. For large gaps, you can cut a narrow strip of foam and install it with a regular sealant. Where the distance to the wall is small, they simply seal it with sealant.

A steel bath is very noisy, with a high pressure, the rumble of water hitting it can be heard throughout the house, to prevent this during installation, glue its bottom with any noise-absorbing material or apply polyurethane foam to it.

The considered options for mounting the bathtub on brick supports guarantee a long service life of the product, they enhance its strength, and when used polyurethane foam increase noise reduction. To create them, you do not need special skill, so the installation of bathtubs is easy to do by yourself. You can learn about other nuances of installation from this article.

Installation of props

After all measurements, you can start preparing cement - sand mortar, and then to the manufacture of supports.

The standard mixture looks like this - one part of cement is mixed with four parts of sand, with the addition of a small amount of water.

There are several types of brick supports:

  1. Columns. The universal and most commonly used method. It takes a lot to make brick columns less material than in other cases, so this method can be considered economical. However, such supports are more suitable for mounting cast iron bath. The bottom of a bowl made of cast iron does not need support, since, unlike tubs made of steel or acrylic, it cannot be deformed under intense weight loads.
  2. Podium. This method is just right for acrylic and steel fonts. The essence of the method is that a substrate of bricks is located under the bottom of the bath, repeating its shape. Such masonry helps to evenly distribute the load on the bowl, preventing it from deforming. The disadvantage of the podium is the use of a large number of bricks, which leads to significant financial costs.
  3. Perimeter supports. Such supports are installed in combination with standard legs. It turns out that the legs support the bottom of the font, and the brick supports support the edges of the bath. The method is certainly useful, but if you do not leave a special window in advance, service maintenance communication systems can be difficult.

The shape of the supports also depends on the shape of the bathing tank itself:

  • rectangular. Such models usually have rounded edges;
  • triangular. Required for corner bath;
  • oval;
  • bevelled;

We continue to install the bath on the bricks with our own hands. When measurements are taken and the placement site is marked, we begin to prepare a sand-cement mortar. To do this, you need cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 4.

First, the first row is laid for one support and leveled until the solution dissolves. This procedure is carried out by level. Then bricks of 2 and 3 levels are installed. In conclusion construction works 1/2 bricks should be placed on the mortar in the outer parts so that there is a recess in the shape of the bath. It takes days to freeze.

Do not rush to place the bath on the dried masonry, first you need to mount the siphon with overflow. To do this, turn the iron bowl upside down and process the water holes with any hermetic means.

How to install a bathroom on bricks

Worth at home steel bath, but her legs are missing or out of order, but do you really want to soak up in warm foamy water? Do not despair, there is a way out and this is the installation of a bath on bricks, which is not difficult to do, and any of us can do it.

Indeed, you should start with preparation, thinking through cardinal changes in the bathroom, such as installing large plumbing fixtures. Preparation involves thoughtful actions to repair the premises even at the stage of finishing work.

Special attention pay attention to leveling the floor, waterproofing is also required. If you are going to lay tiles, use cement mortar for strength, an unusual tile adhesive. Weak building adhesive, applied using the comb method, leaves small voids under the tiles.

You should not allow this state of affairs if you do not want to find tiles cracked or broken under the weight of the bath. The walls are tiled after the installation of overall structures.

So, the service life of the bath, and especially its enamel coating, will be as long as possible if the above operation is carried out with high quality and all requirements are met, our comments are taken into account.

All actions must be carried out with the utmost care, coordinating them with a partner.

On the initial stage a protective rubber gasket is needed. First of all, it must be laid on brick supports.

In the case when the bath is classic, it sinks to the bottom building level. Next, you need to take it from both sides and slowly level it. If the bottom of the bathtub is of a non-standard shape, the level is applied from the outside.

Rigid fixation and pipe installation

To install a steel bath on bricks, additional anchor points are needed, since the containers are light and unstable. It is advisable to make a wall or brick racks under each of the 2 nearest corners.

The next step in installing an acrylic bath on bricks is to attach the drain to the sewer pipe sleeve. Need plastic pipe and elbow with 90 and 45 degree angles. A flexible plastic corrugation is connected to the sewer outlet.

This must be done tightly so that nothing flows out when the water is drained. Sealant is used for a tight fit. It takes time to dry and harden, otherwise it will not be able to properly seal all the holes.

Installation of a cast-iron bath on bricks is carried out according to the above rules. After that, you need to check the reliability of the connections. To do this, fill the container with water and open the drain, after which they carefully monitor what is happening.

It is important that water is removed quickly and freely, in the area of the joints and under the bath so that it does not drip. The check is performed 2-5 times, after which the structure should rest, and then you need to repeat filling and draining the water.

In the case when it is required to install an acrylic bath, the choice should be made on the podium made of bricks and additional brick racks installed around the perimeter of the bowl.

If a steel tub is chosen for the bathroom, it is recommended to add additional supports to it for greater strength. It can be brick racks or a wall. What to choose from this?

The answer is simple - if the bathtub is surrounded by walls on three sides, racks are suitable, since such a bowl is quite stable. If the bath is in contact with only one side of the wall, then a wall is suitable in this situation.

After the bowl is completely fixed, you can proceed with the installation of the pipe. This requires a 90 degree pipe and a 45 degree elbow.

These elements must be made of plastic. It is recommended to connect the plastic corrugation and the sewer outlet carefully, slowly.

All elements must fit snugly together, providing the necessary tightness. To do this, all joints must be treated with a sealant and allowed to dry completely.

After the sealant has dried, it must be checked. The bathtub needs to be filled with water, the water drain must be opened and the water drained from the font.

Ideally, the water from the bath should leave freely, the joints and joints do not leak. All these actions are carried out several more times, then the structure must be allowed to rest for a day and such a check should be carried out again.

After reading this article, we can conclude that you can install the bath on brick supports with your own hands, using a small set of tools and materials.

After completing all the steps described, you can safely take water procedures without thinking about how stable the bath is. And the realization that all the work is done by hand increases the pleasure of the process.

It is important to follow the process of installing a bathroom on bricks. Mistakes can lead to negative consequences:

  1. The top of the product should not be higher than 60 cm from the floor. Many novice craftsmen make mistakes in this, which reduces the period of operation of the product.
  2. It is necessary to pay attention to the angle, the direction of the slope. This is required for the correct calculation of the placement of sewer pipes. Mistakes can lead to difficulties with draining water. Usually the difference between the height of the sides is 2 cm.
  3. When forming a pedestal, it is important to take into account the dimensions, configuration of the product, as well as the material. Most of the difficulties will be with cast iron and metal structures. They are heavy, which creates a load on the base.
  4. It is not necessary to fix the bath immediately after the completion of the brick support. Drying is done first.
  5. Sometimes, with the help of building foam, not only the brick base is processed, but also the outer part of the product. This is necessary for high-quality sound insulation. It is not necessary to cover the acrylic product, since it already has good sound absorption.
  6. Adjust the angle of inclination with pieces of bricks and cement mortar. If you have to work with an acrylic container, then it is important to control that the sharp corners of the brick fragments do not pierce it.

Benefits of this method

The brick support is more reliable than the legs supplied with the product. Over time, the latter can warp, take the wrong position. This leads to deformation of the container itself, which disrupts the normal outflow of water from the bath.

Corrosion may appear on metal legs due to high humidity in the room, and bricks are resistant to it.

A cast-iron bathtub installed on bricks can withstand significant loads while maintaining its original position, while a structure on metal supports may not withstand if a person with a lot of weight uses it.

From the photo, installing a bathtub on bricks looks attractive. This method is suitable for fixing containers made of steel, acrylic, cast iron, which can be done independently.

This indicator is especially important for steel and acrylic products, which are light in weight.
This method eliminates the noise during filling of water, which is usually observed in metal bathtubs.

Installing an acrylic bath on bricks: a description of the installation process

Unlike its steel counterpart, a cast-iron bathtub has a much greater mass, which reduces the number of supports required for its installation. This moment is also favored by the rigidity of the bath, which allows you to abandon the extreme supports in the form of columns or low walls - refusing them, you should understand the importance of pallet brick pillows, on which the entire weight of the bath and the entire load from the liquid in it, as well as the mass of a person, falls .

A cast-iron bathtub on bricks should stand securely, and most importantly, do not sway from side to side. Proceeding from this, the principle of manufacturing pallet supports also emerges - as a rule, in the absence of side racks, these supports are hollows in which the bottom of the bath is comfortably located. If it seems to you that laying bricks in this way is beyond your power, then no one will forbid you to install a cast-iron bath on bricks, by analogy with a metal bath.

Installing a cast iron bath on bricks photo

You should not think that if the acrylic bathtub is lightweight, then the requirements for its brick supports are different. It should be understood that the weight of the water taken into it and the mass of a person do not decrease at all depending on the material from which the bath is made. The low weight of the bathtub only greatly facilitates the process of its installation, but does not simplify the supporting structure - you still need the same flat cushion under the bottom and supports along the edges of the bathtub sides.

Installing an acrylic bath on bricks photo

There is another approach to installing an acrylic bath on bricks - a built-in installation. By resorting to this method of installation, you create a support for the bath in the form of a wall closed around the perimeter of the bath, on which it fits. Under the bottom of the bath, as in all other cases, a flat brick pillow is laid out.

Bath on bricks photo

And in conclusion of this topic, only one thing can be added - the installation of a bathtub on bricks can be done in any way convenient for you, as long as it is reliable and, as they say, thorough. Imagine visually the weak points of the bath you have purchased and fix it so that these places are strengthened.

Acrylic is the most popular material for making bathtubs. In addition to an acrylic bathtub, homeowners often place a plastic liner over a cast iron or steel bathtub. This allows you to update the plumbing in the room without much effort and money.

Installation of an acrylic bathtub (brand Kaldewei, Triton and others) can be performed in several ways:

Corner bathtubs are a versatile option that is suitable for both large bathrooms and small bathrooms. They are symmetrical and asymmetrical, the dimensions of the branches are standardized.

If you choose the right triangular bath, then in a small room you can fit not only a washbasin with a cabinet, but also a washing machine or bidet. But there are some nuances that you need to know about before installing a corner bath (Ravak - Ravak, Laguna and others):

  • All corner baths are classified according to the type of location into right-handed and left-handed. This is very important for the proper connection of sewerage and water pipes;
  • Before the beginning installation work make sure the walls are aligned. If this is not done, it will be extremely difficult to level the bath;
  • The bath of an angular design is established on legs. Supports are fixed along the entire perimeter, which will later be used to fasten the frame guides;
  • In the place where the bath is adjacent to the wall, it is imperative to install a flexible plinth. This will help avoid leaks.

Installation of a corner acrylic bath Part 1

A frame diagram is the easiest option for installing an acrylic bathtub. This method is ideal for built-in plumbing, fits perfectly into any interior and provides ergonomics.

Step-by-step instructions on how to install an acrylic bath on a frame:

  1. First of all, the surface of the walls is leveled. It is important not only to plaster the surface, but also to cover the walls with a finish - a primer and putty. Installation of tiles can be carried out immediately or after the completion of installation work;
  2. Similar actions are carried out with the floor. The floor in the bathroom should be perfectly flat, without wide seams and bumps. This will greatly facilitate the installation of the frame by level;
  3. To install the bath, you need to prepare a building level (its length should not be less than the diagonal of the bath), a hammer with a rubber nozzle (to fix the frame), a wrench and an adjustable wrench. Various gaskets and pipes may also be required to connect the sewerage system;
  4. A flexible pipe is attached to the sewer outlet, the diameter of which must correspond to the outlet of the bath. A siphon is attached to it. The joints are treated with silicone sealant. After that, you need to wait at least 4 hours for the silicone to harden;

  5. Next, the frame is mounted. The first guide is installed along the wall - it will be the main one, so it is important to align it strictly according to the level. Side rails extend from this guide, to which vertical racks are attached from the floor. They can be connected by welding or bolting (the first seems more reliable, but the second can be disassembled in which case);

  6. When all the guides are interconnected, the level of the corners is measured. There is one strict rule: when installing bathrooms and uneven frames, the lowered corner rises, and the raised corner does not fall. All corners are fixed with metal corner strips to give rigidity;

  7. If all corners are at the same level, then a bath is installed in the frame. An overflow from the siphon is connected to the side hole, and the outlet from the sewer is connected to the central one. The water socket (water supply pipe) is located above the bath, so it will be possible to work with it after the installation work is completed.
  8. To prevent water from the bath from spilling onto the floor, you need to close the gaps between the wall and the side rail with a curb. It is also called plinth;

  9. The frame is closed with a screen. Additionally, it can be insulated - so that the bath “holds” the heat of the water longer. To cover the screen, you can use tiles, panels or even fake diamond. It is best to work with durable, water-resistant materials.

  10. After the installation work is completed, the mixer is installed. To connect it, open a water outlet, connect a tap to it, if necessary, also connect a sink or shower hose.

    Most well-known bathtub manufacturers supplement their products with special fasteners and installation parts. Supports are included with models manufactured by Jika (Jika), Roca (Roca), Riho and others.

    How to properly install an acrylic bathtub on legs yourself:

    With acrylic and glass baths, you need to work very carefully. Plastic is subject to deformation under impact loads. When the installation process is over, proceed to install the mixer, washing machine and other consumers.

    Installation of a cast-iron, glass or steel bathtub on legs is carried out according to a scheme similar to the installation of an acrylic structure. Of course, depending on the size or shape, the distance between the supports may vary, but in general the technology is preserved.

    So, the service life of the bath, and especially its enamel coating, will be as long as possible if the above operation is carried out with high quality and all requirements are met, our comments are taken into account.

    Placing on brick supports is far from a new solution, the method has been enjoying well-deserved success for decades. Installation on bath bricks is the most reliable way, in which the bath is firmly fixed, stable, will stand at the right level, and be used for a long time.

    Practice shows: bricks are more reliable than the "native" legs that come with the bathroom. After 10-12 years, the supports begin to warp, then the sanitary ware is deformed, as a result of which the water does not completely drain into the sewer after the completion of water procedures. If a person with a lot of weight takes a bath, then only with brick supports there is confidence that the structure will withstand. The legs rust, which definitely won't happen with bricks.

    Location of brick pillars

    Brick base scheme

    In order for the installation of a bathtub on bricks to be successful, it is not at all necessary to have a mountain of modern expensive electric tools or expensive Construction Materials. Enough set:

  • bricks (minimum quantity 15 pieces);
  • sand, dry cement, a container for preparing the mixture;
  • sealant;
  • metal profile, grinder and self-tapping screws (needed for additional attachment of the bath to the wall);
  • Master OK;
  • level;
  • protective rubber pads (lay between the bottom and brick bases).

You will need a regular red or white brick

The sealant must be taken tape - this will facilitate the work of isolating the seams. Bricks take the usual red or white, but without voids inside. Protective pads are needed only for a steel bath, and the number of bricks is increased, because it weighs less, therefore, it is unstable. The level is useful for strictly horizontal installation of the bathing tank.

You need to carefully and accurately measure with a tape measure or a long ruler and mark the place for the bath. It is necessary to start such work only after buying a bath - this is an opportunity to produce necessary measurements in progress. When a bathing tank is purchased or you already have an old one, be sure to place it in your workspace.

The next step is to take the exact dimensions of the bath that will be installed. You will need the following data: length, width, depth (if it changes from one edge to another, measure on both sides), the distance from the ends to the intended location of the supports.

The optimal distance between two rows of bricks is 50 cm, but it all depends on the length of the steel bowl. The easiest way to check if you made the right measurements is to determine the middle of the bath in length and measure 25 cm in both directions. This is where the brick racks will be located.

Also record on paper how many centimeters from the overflow hole to the bottom of the steel product.

It is necessary to plan the position of the bath so that in the future it fits snugly, without gaps, against the wall. Otherwise, water is poured into the gap between it and the bathing container, which will cause the formation of mold within two months, which is very harmful to the body.

This does not apply to the second and third walls of the room - the ends of the bath should not fit snugly against them in case of overheating, expansion and, as a result, deformation of the latter. After installation, fill these gaps with sealant. Decide at what height it is convenient for you to place the bath.

The indicator will be a multiple of the height of one brick.

The slope of the bathroom is done towards the drain so that the water does not stagnate. We recommend making such brick racks: the back part is 19 cm high, the front part is 17 cm. Transfer as markings all your measurements to the room where the bath will be located.

Preparatory work for the installation of the bath

Bathroom installation

Before placing the bathtub on the brick pedestal, place the pads, if any, have been prepared. We recommend doing the installation itself with at least two people, and preferably three people. First, put a level on the bottom of the tub and carefully. After that, taking it from different sides, lower it onto the bricks.

Note: in terms of level, the bath is set in this way only if its design is classic, that is, the bottom is horizontal. If the bottom is made with a slope, the level will have to be applied not inside, but outside. Do-it-yourself bath installation operation is carried out slowly, slowly checking and coordinating every movement with a partner or partners.

Make sure the edge is snug against the wall or walls.

How to put a bath on bricks

Before installing the bath on bricks, you need to make sure that the container fits snugly against the wall. Otherwise, water will be poured into the distance between it and the structure, which will cause mold. The ends of the container should touch the walls tightly, so the gaps after installation must be filled with sealant. It is important to determine at what height it is more profitable to place the structure. The indicator will be equal to the height of one brick.

The slope of the bath must be done towards the drain to prevent stagnation of water. It is advisable to create brick racks, while the height of the rear should be 19 cm, and the front ones should be 17. If the container is made taking into account the slope for the drain, then you will not need to lay out racks of different heights.

Installation of props

We continue to install the bath on the bricks with our own hands. When measurements are taken and the placement site is marked, we begin to prepare a sand-cement mortar. To do this, you need cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 4.

First, the first row is laid for one support and leveled until the solution dissolves. This procedure is carried out by level. Then bricks of 2 and 3 levels are installed. At the end of the construction work, 1/2 bricks must be laid on the mortar in the outer parts so that there is a recess in the shape of the bath. It takes days to freeze.

Do not rush to place the bath on the dried masonry, first you need to mount the siphon with overflow. To do this, turn the iron bowl upside down and process the water holes with any hermetic means. Then the siphon with overflow is mounted independently, and then the container is installed on a brick pedestal.

Installing a corner bath

Installation of corner structures is the most difficult to implement independently. Consider how to install a Cersanit corner bath on legs with your own hands:

Fixing and installing the pipe

To install a steel bath on bricks, additional anchor points are needed, since the containers are light and unstable. It is advisable to make a wall or brick racks under each of the 2 nearest corners. If the container adjoins only one side to the wall, then it is necessary to build piers, and if the steel vat is limited on 3 sides, then brick columns are needed.

The next step in installing an acrylic bath on bricks is to attach the drain to the sewer pipe sleeve. You need a plastic pipe and an elbow with angles of 90 and 45 degrees.

It is important to follow the process of installing a bathroom on bricks. Errors can lead to negative consequences:

The frame options we have given as an example will help to build robust design with my own hands. A frame made according to the rules will last a long time. The result of personal efforts can be boasted to friends and neighbors.

Specialization: master in the construction of plasterboard structures, finishing works and styling floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, facade finishing, installation of electrics, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

Very often I hear the opinion of developers that only professionals can install a cast-iron bath. I don’t know where this opinion came from, but I assure you that you will be able to carry out a quality installation without outside help if you follow the recommendations that are presented below in this review. The only problem may be the heavy weight of the structure, so invite an assistant in advance.

How the work is done

Now we will deal with each of the installation methods in more detail and in detail. You need to familiarize yourself with the features of the technologies, and then choose the option that is best suited in your particular case.

Installation on legs

This is essentially the simplest solution, because with all the products in the set there are four legs. First, let's look at what types of supports are:

  • It is important to pay attention to whether the design has the ability to adjust the height of the legs, if it is not there, then be prepared for the fact that you will have to cut the supports to the desired height and then grind them until you get the perfect result. The process, I tell you, is not the most pleasant and not the easiest, you will have to spend a lot of time and effort, so it is better to choose a system with the ability to adjust;
  • The configuration of fastening the elements to the bath body may also differ., there are also two options. The first of them is a wedge-shaped fixation system, this option has been used for a long time and is simple, if everything is done correctly, the design will be quite reliable. The second type is tie bolts, with which the bath is fixed in a certain position.

Another important note concerns the base on which the bath will be placed, if its reliability is in doubt, then it is better to put additional steel supports under the legs with a thickness of at least 5 mm and a diameter of at least 50 mm. This will ensure the stability of the structure and eliminate its distortions during operation.

Now let's figure out how to install a cast-iron bath with our own hands, the process consists of several successive steps, first I will present a diagram, and then I will explain in detail each of the steps:

  • First of all, you need to prepare the floor, there are two options, the first is alignment using cement screed or self-leveling mortar, it is important to achieve an even plane. The second solution is the laying of durable ceramic tiles, this provides additional reliability. If you have chosen ceramics, then do not forget that for hardening adhesive composition should take at least a couple of days;
  • Summing up communications is an important part of the work, which should also be carried out in advance. The ideal option is chasing the walls and placing the pipes flush with the surface, this greatly simplifies subsequent work. As for, it is located in a certain place and the main thing that needs to be controlled is the correct height of the nozzle;
  • As for the preparation of the walls, then ceramic tiles can be laid either from floor to ceiling, or starting from the side of an already installed structure. I strongly recommend the first option, because if you need to dismantle a cast-iron bathtub, then you simply disconnect it and you can put any other option, because your walls are fully lined;

  • Next, you need to bring the bath into the room, if the area is small, then the easiest way to do this is by holding the structure in an upright position. The structure is turned over on its side so that its bottom is located about 70 cm from the wall, two legs are attached, the work depends on the type of elements, you need to either combine the elements and hammer in the wedges, or tighten the bolts inserted into the aligned holes on the leg and body ;

  • Then the structure is placed on legs, reinforced on one side, and on the other, a support about 70 cm long is placed, make sure it is reliable, otherwise the bath may fall on you during operation. The fastening of the legs on the other side is done in the same way, you can do it quickly, as you already have experience;
  • Installation of a siphon with overflow can be carried out both after fixing the legs and in front of them. In my opinion, it is easier to mount the system when the structure is already on legs and free access is provided to all its parts. It is not worth collecting in advance, if only for the reason that you can damage the fragile plastic by turning the bath;

Choose a siphon in which the drain grate is made of steel, plastic options over time, they deform and leaks constantly form at the joints.

  • Lastly, the structure is leveled; for this, a building level is used, which is placed on the side. The air bubble will tell you how to adjust the supports, the process is quite simple, so you can handle it without any problems. The slope to the drain is not needed, it is already in the bath, remember this.

After finishing the work, you can proceed to the finishing operations - closing the joint between the bathroom and the wall, installing a decorative screen, etc.

Installation on a brick base

Now let's figure out how to install a cast iron bath on supports made of bricks. Many developers choose this option because of the very high reliability, this design, unlike the legs, will not loosen over time and will maintain strength throughout the entire period of operation. Also, this solution is well suited for places where the condition of the floor leaves much to be desired.

Let's figure out what you need to work besides the bath itself:

bricks Their number depends on how many rows will be placed, the supports should be located in increments of 50 cm, that is, for a structure 170 cm long, two rows are enough. But if the length is longer, then it is better to make three rows, additional support will not hurt. The height of the structure is usually 2-3 rows, about 10 standard bricks go to one support
masonry mortar To make a solid masonry, you can use a mixture of cement, sand and water, but it is much easier to buy a ready-made composition that is easy to dilute with water. You can buy it at any hardware store.
Work tool In order to prepare the mortar, it is best to use a drill with a mixing nozzle, and a trowel is used for masonry work

Now let's look at the sequence of work carried out, the instruction is as follows:

  • First of all, it is necessary to take measurements of the room in order to accurately determine the location of the bath.. Next, you need to mark the place of installation of the supports, so that later you will not be distracted by this and not confuse anything;
  • Then you need to make sure that all the necessary communications are connected, since after work it will not be very convenient. Plumbing and sewerage system should be located where they should be;
  • Masonry work is carried out carefully and slowly, constantly monitor the level of the structure, if necessary, knocking out the elements. After 2 or 3 rows are laid, the bulk of the work can be considered completed. Along the edges, you can put half a brick to make original bumpers, or you don’t have to do this - after installing the bath, fix it with a solution;

  • Next, you need to attach a siphon to the bath, since it will be quite difficult to do this later.. I already wrote recommendations for choosing this element above;
  • Installation on bath bricks is simple: together with an assistant, place the structure on supports, after which you need to fix it with masonry mortar. No slopes need to be done, it is important to place the system absolutely evenly, for this a building level is used, which is placed on the side, if everything is done correctly, then there will be no problems with this aspect;

  • Then the siphon is installed, the easiest way to connect is to use a corrugation, as it is easy to use and reliable. It is important that the system is located with the desired slope, and the water leaves quickly. If the outflow of water is not very good, then you need to check the drain system.

Finally, when all work is completed, the structure needs to be improved, for this a special screen is being built. The easiest way, in my opinion, is to use a metal profile for drywall, on which you can fix any finishing material. Again, moisture-resistant drywall can be a great solution.

Close the junction of the bathroom and the wall with a special border tape, cover it with mortar - not the best solution because of the not very attractive look.

Output

The choice of installation option is up to you, the first one is easier, the second one is more reliable. The video in this article will help you better understand some of the nuances of the work, and if you have questions, write them in the comments below the review.

I'll tell you how I brick an ordinary metal bath. Before us is a metal bathtub, there are legs in the kit. The task is to install a bathtub so that even a hundred-kilogram person would jump into it from acceleration, but it would not move.

For my customers, I recommend reinforcing the bathtub with an additional brick wall. It is done like this: Before installing to the wall, we fasten the legs, fasten the siphon (the legs and siphons are different, so I won’t dwell on this, the question is different), we prepare the metal bath for foaming (the foam reduces the noise of pouring water, plus the metal bath holds better warm).

We screwed it up, now we turn the bath over and carefully wipe the surface with a rag (this is enough, it is not necessary to degrease). Then we apply foam to the surface of the bath, foam everything except the front side, in this place we will have a brick wall. A 1.70-ton tub will take three large tubes of foam.

Leave for half a day, wait until the foam dries. The foam has dried, we attach the bath to the wall, set it according to the level (we catch zero, we catch zero with legs, they usually have threaded studs, they are adjustable, at the end we fix the studs with nuts and lock nuts). Many people think that back bathtubs need to be raised for better drainage, but this is not the case. The manufacturer decided everything for us, a slope has already been made at the bottom of the bathroom, the bath should be at zero.

The line on the floor will be our guide, from it (from the line) we retreat another couple of centimeters (these centimeters are needed for tiles plus glue). We put the first bricks, put them on the edge. Naturally, the brick is placed in a run.

After a couple of minutes of work, we understand that the higher, the more problematic, a whole brick no longer fit. The sides of the baths can be of different widths, but a whole brick will still not rise above three rows. We also do not forget that the tile should lie a couple of millimeters deeper than the side of the bathroom, so it will be easier for a person taking a bath to get up, there is something to catch on, a flush tile is a less convenient option.

Well, above the bricks that are wider, I just plaster, I use pieces of brick as "ballast" (we buy brick with slots, this one is better suited for this work).

If the bath is shorter than the wall (and this is a common occurrence), then we fill the void with the same brick, we don’t reach the edge, about two centimeters, we leave room for the tile, we get an additional shelf, we put the tile on this “shelf” with a slight slope so that the water flowed into the bath.

In general, everything remains, in the masonry, to mount a plumbing door, you can build a frame for it, or you can get by with a brick. We install a sanitary door in the siphon area, through it you can not only clean the siphon, but even replace it.

The bath is installed "dead", in a couple of days you can jump in it. It has been checked dozens of times, I often work from the side of such a bathtub, I work on the ceiling (lining, drywall, and so on), my weight is a centner, the bathtub can easily withstand it.

Well, in the end, I’ll add, some people think that the solution harms the metal, but these are all fairy tales, the inner surface, metal baths, it is painted and it is not afraid of the solution, I contemplated the fruits of my work and ten years after its completion, everything is fine, the bath will stand the same amount, the house will fall into disrepair earlier.

It takes me half an hour to make this wall, the frame cannot be built in such a time, and it will not strengthen the bath, I only make frames on cast iron.

A bathtub installed on ordinary legs is not able to withstand a heavy structure for a long time. And after a couple of years, the screw mount will begin to loosen and lose its functionality.

Therefore, the choice of many falls on the strongest supports from brick luggage. The contact zone with such an installation is much larger, therefore it is attached much better. How to properly install a bath on bricks, and what is important to know, we will consider in the article.

This is where you need to start when thinking about changing your bathroom. It is necessary to think over actions that will be useful in the future at the level of finishing work.

The floor must be level. Waterproof in advance. When tiling, use high-quality cement mortar, tile adhesive. If you use highly diluted low-quality glue, there will be voids between the tiles and the floor.

Don't use this method. The large weight of the bricks will press, which will lead to cracks, breaks in the tiles. Tiling should follow after installing large plumbing fixtures. Those. to begin with, a sink, bathtub, etc. are placed, and then it is already lined.

If you do everything right, the bath, especially enameled, will last a very long time.

Proper installation of the bath on bricks with your own hands will cause a long service life.

Why put a bath on bricks

This design has been a success for a very long time. There are several reasons for this:

  • Reliable way;
  • Possesses greater fastening strength;
  • sustainability;
  • Long service life.

When buying a bathroom, legs are additionally included for its installation. But as practice shows, it is less reliable than bricklaying. After 10 years of installation on the native legs of the bath, they begin to deform, as a result of which the bath itself changes. Due to these changes, water may not drain completely into the sewer.

Well, if there are overweight people in the family, the period of use of the legs is even less. Confidence for a long service in this case rests only on brick luggage. Typically, native mounts are made of metal. Due to excess moisture in the bathroom, they will quickly rust, lose their appearance and functionality.

Necessary materials for installing a bathroom on bricks

For correct installation there is no need to buy expensive tools and materials. Everyone has this set in their garage. Well, materials can be purchased at a reasonable price in hardware stores, furniture stores. Necessary:

  1. Ceramite (brick), from 15 pieces.
  2. Everything you need for cement mortar.
  3. Sealant.
  4. Metallic profile;
  5. Bulgarian;
  6. self-tapping screws;
  7. Level ruler;
  8. Master OK;
  9. Rubber gaskets for waterproofing.

Take tape sealant. It well isolates the seams, facilitates the work. Hollow bricks are not used in this case. Buy red, white.

Don't buy spacers unless you have a steel tub. And if steel, install as many bricks as possible. It weighs little, so it is easier to loosen it. The level is also very important. It will help to put the bath more evenly.

We carry out measurements for installing a bathroom

It is important to use correctly measuring instruments clearly measure, mark the place for the bath. This should be done only after its acquisition, because. We need precise measurements, not approximate ones. Also, measurements must be taken not only before installation, but also during it.

The first thing to do correct measurements. Use a tape measure or measuring tape. We need parameters for width, length, depth. If the depth in several parts of the bath is different, measure it several times. You also need to measure the place from the ends to the brick supports. Your bathroom can be of different lengths, but with a standard approach, the distance between bricks should be about 50 cm.

For best result you need to check if the measurements are correct. To do this, you need to find out the length of the bath, measure 25 cm in different directions. Under these places, in the future, brick luggage should be installed. It is also useful to measure the distance from the drain of water into the sewer, to the very bottom.

It is important to choose the right place. The tub should be in very close contact with the wall. If you make such a mistake, all the water will drain to the floor through the gaps. After a couple of months, mold will begin to form. This is very harmful to both the condition of the house and its inhabitants.

But it should adjoin only to two walls. If the room is small, make sure that the ends of the bath do not touch the third or fourth wall. The bath may overheat, due to deformation. After installation with full contact with the first two walls, fill the joint with sealant. Before installing, think about the height of the tub from the floor. Approximate height - 1 brick.

The number of bricks needed for luggage is not difficult to count. They buy an average of more than 15. They need two props. 2.5 bricks go to the width of the bath, and the height is at the request of the owner.

In order for the water to completely pour into the sewer, the side of the drain hole is made slightly lower than the second. Experts recommend using numbers: 17 cm in height on the side with a hole and 19 on the side without it. But people began to make bathtubs designed so that the water quickly drains. For such baths, you should not make a difference in the height of the racks. For markings, transfer all the parameters of the bath in advance with a pencil to the walls and floor.

Installation of bath supports

After completing all the preparatory work, having dealt with necessary materials After checking all the calculations, you can proceed with the installation.

First you need to make a sand-cement mortar. Ratio 1:4 (more sand).

According to the first work, only on one load. We lay the first row, wait for the solution to solidify, with the help of the level we correct everything. The bath can be kept on one level, but you can also lay the second and third. After the cement has dried at all levels, on the outer sides of the supports, report another half of the brick. It will look better. After a day, everything will completely freeze.

Immediately after drying, you can not install a bath. First you need to install a siphon. It is necessary to turn the bath on any side, and seal all holes in the bath (except for the large and main one) with hermetic means. After installing the siphon with overflow. Only then can you put the bath on brick luggage.

Important! Install so that sewage pipe was below the siphon.

Installing a bathtub, how to install a bathtub on a brick

If you have a steel tub, lay the gaskets before installation. Usually one person cannot cope with the installation, ask 1-2 people for help. Carefully place a level on the bottom of the tub.

Then grab it from different sides, lift it up and lower it onto the bricks. Don't forget about bathtubs, which may already be adapted to a favorable drain. The level is used only in the classic version. This is when the bottom is parallel to the floor.

Well, if the bath is inside with slopes, then using the level, the correct location is marked from the outside. Do all the work slowly, do not rush anywhere. Do not forget about the snug fit of the bath to the wall. Discuss every action with your partner.

Next, you need to check the strength and durability. Grab onto any edge of the tub. After gently try to take aside. It's like you're trying to turn it around. If it moves a little, errors were made during installation. Understand the problem, carefully inspect the entire structure. Maybe somewhere you need to put another brick, or use better and more mortar and sealant.

Rigid fixation and pipe installation

If the bath is made of steel, it is very light. She has great instability. Additional supports are added to fix the problem. Usually piers and brick luggage are used as a stand. Bricks are placed under each corner of the bath.

But how do you know which method to solve the problem? Use the rack or do the construction of the wall? This problem is easily solved. If the bath is tightly pressed with only one side to the walls, use the walls. Well, if the bath is in the corner between the walls, or pressed against three, it is more stable. This is where bricks can help.
