Andrey's hand-made furniture in the photo was tinted with water stain applied with a brush, and the final finish was carried out with teak oil, rubbing it with a swab. This oil is well absorbed, does not leave streaks and gives the product a soft, non-shine look. Finishing depends on your taste. You can make the furniture dark, antique with traces of patina, or you can cover it with colorless oil or varnish, while maintaining the natural color of the wood.

DIY chair with a transparent seat

The coffee table, the manufacturing process of which is demonstrated in the master class, is an original piece of furniture. It is created from natural branches of trees, and with its appearance it resembles them.

With branches, the work is much more painstaking. They will need to be laid out in the form of a tree. Peel them from the bark, cut down everything superfluous so that you only have flat parts left and after all - fasten the branches to each other. Boards made from branches will also need to be sanded. In order for the cuts on the branches to be as even and of high quality as possible, it is better to use a band saw for this.

Step 3. Attach the resulting wood to the table top and cut both parts, fitting them under each other, and giving the desired shape to the table.

Step 4. Glue the decorative tree to the countertop with wood glue, following the manufacturer's instructions. For reliability, you can fix its branches with small self-tapping screws.

Step 5. Place the table top on the base. Secure it with suitable size screws.

Step 6. To finish the table along the end of the tabletop in this master class, willow bark of a suitable height was used. You can take the same one or replace it with the remaining thin bark scraps from already processed branches. Since the bark will need to be bent, it is worth walking along it with a moistened sponge. It is better to fasten the bark with self-tapping screws. Then you can reinforce it around the edges with wood glue.

The surface of the table in the places where the screws are attached must be treated with putty for wood.

Step 7. Now the countertop needs to be decorated. To do this, use small river pebbles. It needs to be washed and dried, and then poured onto the countertop, leveling it with a decorative tree.

You can attach pebbles in several ways. You can glue it and then varnish it, but in this case the surface of the countertop will be rough. Alternatively, you can fill the countertop with epoxy. In this case, the surface will be smooth.

A small rack for flowers is assembled on self-tapping screws, a more massive one - on dowels and glue (Fig. 1). Assembly begins with marking on long sections of branches of places for attaching supports under the shelves. The same parts will connect the racks in pairs. The distances between the crossbars are chosen as required for the needs that the rack will serve. Under the dowels, holes are drilled in the uprights and crossbars, a piece of a thin branch suitable in diameter and length is smeared with glue and inserted into the hole on the crossbar. The other end on the adhesive is placed in the corresponding hole on the rack. During assembly, the cross members are checked for horizontality using a level. Having built 2 "ladders", you can proceed to install the shelves on the support-crossbars: even sticks, boards or saw cuts of trunks are attached to the crossbars on self-tapping screws.

1. To make a floor lamp, you will need a branch or tree trunk with a triple fork. If there is no way to find suitable material, the floor lamp stand is assembled from parts (Fig. 2). Temporarily fastening the legs, they achieve the stability of the structure, adjust the parts and make marks in the right places, so that later they can finally fasten everything. Assembly is carried out on self-tapping screws. For the wire in the upper end of the tripod stand, a hole 5-7 cm deep is drilled and perpendicular to it is made in the side of the driftwood. 2. The lampshade for a floor lamp can be taken from an old table lamp or made from any materials, as fantasy tells. It can be made in the form of a nest or a ball of thin curved branches, snags of a suitable shape, etc.
3. It is a little more difficult to make a chair and a table out of driftwood. For them, you will need to find such details from which it will be possible to assemble a stable base or make furniture legs. The seat and tabletop are usually a smooth saw cut of the trunk (Fig. 3).

The tabletop can also be made of glass, which will allow you to see through it the interweaving of branches or roots of driftwood.

After the base for the table or chair is assembled on dowels, at the top of the structure it will be necessary to make a saw cut common to all parts in order to form a flat horizontal surface, solid or consisting of separate fragments, on which it will be possible to “plant” a seat or glue on dowels and glue. countertop.
